Learning Piano: Building Confidence Through Music

Learning Piano: Building Confidence Through Music
CodeOrbit explored another form of creativity last summer through its beginner piano program. Designed for students with little to no prior experience, the program brought together over 10 participants for a 5-day lesson series spread across the month.

The focus was to make learning piano simple, enjoyable, and accessible. Students were introduced to the basics of music theory, including understanding notes, rhythm, and how music is structured. They also learned how to navigate the piano keyboard and connect what they were seeing on sheet music to what they were playing.

One of the most rewarding parts of the program was seeing how quickly students progressed. Within just a few sessions, they went from learning individual notes to putting everything together and playing a complete song. That moment—when everything clicks—was something every student got to experience.

The environment was supportive and encouraging, allowing students to learn at their own pace while still feeling part of a group. It wasn’t just about playing piano, but about building confidence, discipline, and creativity.

Due to the positive response and strong participation, CodeOrbit is planning to bring back the piano program again this summer, with potential improvements and new opportunities for students to continue learning.
