Learning Technology by Building Real Projects | Code Orbit at Douglas County Library, Parker, Colorado, USA

Code Orbit believes that technology education becomes more meaningful when students can move beyond lessons and actually build something.
Recently, 25 students from the local community participated in a Code Orbit learning program focused on STEM and technology through project-based learning and hands-on experience.
Rather than learning concepts only through lectures or exercises, students worked on practical projects that introduced them to the process of building a real website. They explored how websites are structured, how different technologies work together, and how an idea can be turned into a working digital project.
The program also introduced students to APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and how they can be used to connect a website with external services and data. This gave students an opportunity to become familiar with technologies they may encounter in more advanced web development and software projects.
The goal was not simply to teach students how to code, but to help them explore, experiment, solve problems, and gain experience building with technology.
Through hands-on STEM learning and project-based experiences, Code Orbit continues to encourage young people to develop technical skills, curiosity, and confidence to create with technology.
