Celebrating Student Coders at a Gaya School: How Code Orbit, Dr. Sweta Kumari, and COMWE are uniting Tech Education and Community Well-Being together

What does it take to make a 12-year-old believe their hard work actually counts? In Gaya, it took a stage, fifty certificates, and a voice from across the world.
Code Orbit has partnered with Magadh Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Ji Nagar, Kujapi, Gaya, Bihar, bringing its online coding program to nearly 50 students at the school. That partnership was recently celebrated at a felicitation ceremony held alongside a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Awareness Program, organized in association with Dr. Sweta Kumari of Mindful Mind Center and the Council of Magadh Women Empowerment (COMWE).
The event brought together students, educators, community members, and distinguished guests — and it felt right that our students' achievements were celebrated in that same space. Learning to code, after all, is its own kind of confidence-building.
Code Orbit founder Afia Khanam addressed the students virtually from the US, encouraging them to keep building their skills for future opportunities. Coming from the person who built this program from the ground up, that encouragement carried real weight in the room.
One Certificate at a Time
Students were recognized individually for completing their online coding coursework, and each name called carried its own quiet significance. One by one, they crossed the stage to collect what they'd earned — not just a certificate, but a small public marker of months of effort that had, until now, unfolded mostly behind a screen, unseen by classmates and largely unspoken about at school. For many, it was the first time their learning outside the regular classroom was recognized in front of their peers, teachers, and family members in attendance. There's a particular kind of validation that comes from that moment — when something you've worked at privately, often late at night or between other responsibilities, suddenly becomes visible and real to the people around you. Some students smiled shyly as their names were announced; others stood a little taller, certificate in hand, aware that this was proof of something they'd built entirely on their own initiative. It was a reminder that learning doesn't need a traditional classroom to count — it just needs a moment like this one to be seen.
By the end, nearly 50 students stood together, certificates in hand — marking a milestone in the school's growing engagement with technology education. It's one thing to see a single student succeed. It's another to see fifty of them, from one school, all having taken the same leap into learning something new.
The partnership reflects Code Orbit's broader mission: connecting students in India to global learning, mentorship, and opportunity — regardless of location. A certificate, in the end, is proof that showing up and sticking with something hard actually counts.
